Roots — Weekly Peer Support Group
The Roots support group is the heartbeat of Seeds of Strength. It is a weekly, structured peer support group exclusively for teenage mothers, facilitated by trained staff and peer leaders.
Program Components:
• Weekly 90-minute facilitated group sessions
• Trauma-informed, strength-based facilitation model
• Guest speakers: healthcare providers, educators, legal advocates, business leaders
• Monthly celebration events recognizing participant milestones
• Childcare provided during all sessions
• Meals and snacks provided at every meeting
Outcomes Targeted:
• Reduced social isolation and increased sense of community
• Improved mental health and reduced symptoms of depression and anxiety
• Increased knowledge of available community resources
• Enhanced parenting confidence and skills
Stable Ground — Housing Support
Housing instability is one of the most destructive forces in a teenage mother's life. Without stable shelter, every other aspect of her life is compromised.
Program Components:
• Emergency housing placement and shelter coordination
• Transitional housing partnerships
• Rental assistance for qualifying participants
• Housing case management and long-term stability planning
• Advocacy with landlords and housing authorities
• Education on tenant rights and financial literacy
Nourish — Food Access & Nutrition
Food insecurity among teenage mother households exceeds 40%. The Nourish program addresses this through food assistance, nutrition education, and connections to community resources.
Program Components:
• Weekly food pantry access
• Monthly cooking workshops and nutrition education
• Connections to WIC, SNAP, and community food programs
• Baby food, formula, and infant nutrition support
• Meals provided at all program events
HealthBridge — Medical Navigation
Healthcare access for teenage mothers is often limited. HealthBridge provides support across prenatal care, postpartum care, mental health, and pediatric care.
Program Components:
• Health insurance enrollment assistance
• Prenatal care navigation and appointment support
• Postpartum mental health screening and referrals
• Pediatric care coordination
• Reproductive health education
Housing Resources
Stable housing is a critical foundation for long-term success. Seeds of Strength supports access to housing programs and services.
